MUSIC AND IDENTITY: Oxplore interviews composer Dr. Des Oliver about his documentary series for the British Music Collection–Identity and the Anxiety of Influence–about BME representation in classical music. He talks about his experiences meeting and interviewing classical musicians of African and Caribbean heritage, some of the issues of cultural appropriation, and the impact of his background on his work. 


Oxplore is an innovative digital outreach portal from the University of Oxford which aims to engage school-age students from 11-18 years with debates and ideas that go beyond what is covered in the classroom as part of their big questions. 


STAGING THE SOUNDS OF SOUTH ASIA: The Sounds of South Asia series brings musicians and dancers from South Asia to perform in venues across Oxford. Dr. Des Oliver, a classical composer and artistic curator of the series, talks about organising the concerts.
